What is spiritually oriented social wok practice? In this webinar, students will learn about how to add the spiritual dimension to your assessments,engagement and interventions. Theoretical and practical approaches that respect the many varieties of spiritual and religious beliefs in our clientpopulations will be emphasized.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Students will learn the basic paradigms of spiritually oriented social work practice.
  2. Students will be taught practical and useful spiritual approachesto assessment, engagement, and intervention.
  3. Students will also learn how to work respectfully and effectively with the full spectrum of variousspiritual and religious perspectives.

Presenter Bio:

Dr Dave Derezotes is Professor Emeritus in the College of Social Work (CSW) and retired Director of Peace and Conflict Studies at the U of U where he has received many awards in teaching, service, and scholarship. Dr Dave has published 8 textbooks, including “Spiritually oriented social work practice” and started one of the first MSW spirituality classes in the country at the CSW (that lasted about 30 years). He currently teaches classes for the U of U Osher program and  facilitates LCSW consultation groups. He also participates in the DialogueDocs Program on KRCL radio, facilitates community center dialogues, and continues to see clients and offer trainings in his private practice.
