Description:

This is an introduction to the mission of American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) which is to save lives and bring hope to those affected bysuicide. The course will focus on three main areas of suicide prevention: Education, Research, and Advocacy.

Meets Utah CE requirement for Suicide Prevention

Learning Objectives:

By the end of the course:

  1. students will understand the scope of the problem
  2. students will learn how to communicate safely and effectively to help end the stigma of mental health and suicide.
  3. students will learn how to advocate for mental health care access.

Presenter Bios:

Brandon Callor received a master’s degree in social work from University of Oklahoma and is currently working on licensure as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). He is a Certified Social Worker (CSW) in Utah. As President of the board of directors for Utah Chapter of American Foundation for Suicide Prevention his focus is on saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide.

All proceeds from this inaugural event are reinvested in students through scholarships at the College of Social Work. Your participation helps train the next generation of behavioral health professionals.
